Mapping the eye care professional market in Brazil
Every project we run is covered by confidentiality agreements. That is why this page describes the method, scope and deliverables, but does not identify the client, brand, product or date.
Challenge
A company in the eye care segment needed to hear from the different professionals involved in prescribing, selling and recommending glasses and lenses in the Brazilian market.
The challenge was to reach three distinct audiences, retail opticians, ophthalmologists and optometrists, ensuring that participants had hands-on experience and genuine involvement with the category.
Beyond professional activity, recruitment required specific experience and behavior criteria, including monthly prescription volume, contact with different lens types and participation in deciding which brands to sell. This made it possible to build a sample of professionals effectively embedded in the dynamics of the optical market.
Methodology applied
- Quantitative online survey with 300 eye care professionals in Brazil
- Sample composed of 120 retail opticians, 150 ophthalmologists and 30 optometrists
- Recruitment of professionals with at least one year of practice in the field
- Selection of participants prescribing more than 25 pairs of prescription glasses per month
- Inclusion of professionals experienced in prescribing progressive or multifocal lenses (PAL) and single vision lenses (SV)
- Criteria related to prescribing anti-reflective treatments and polarized lenses
- Selection of professionals directly involved or with some involvement in deciding which brands are sold
- Online interviews lasting 30 minutes
- Full project management, including setup, recruitment and incentives
