Challenge

A company in the food segment needed to evaluate how different versions of a ready-to-use seasoning performed in a cooking preparation, in order to understand the consumer experience during product use.

The challenge involved recruiting a specific consumer profile: women with or without children, from socioeconomic classes B and C, aged 35 or older and with a high frequency of seasoning consumption. Participants had to be heavy users, consuming the reference product four times a week or more.

Beyond recruitment, the study required a structured operation for preparing and presenting the samples, with in-person sessions, an adjoining kitchen and a dedicated team for product preparation and participant support. The questionnaire itself was administered entirely online, which demanded adequate infrastructure for simultaneous use of the devices.

Methodology applied

  • Recruitment of consumers according to the criteria defined for the target audience
  • In-person evaluation sessions lasting 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • Evaluation of 4 versions of the same seasoning in a cooking preparation
  • Fieldwork organized in Recife, with a room suited to the research and an adjoining kitchen for sample preparation
  • Preparation, storage and handling of the evaluated products during the sessions
  • Participant support and assistance with completing the survey on tablets
  • Integrated operation between the teams responsible for product preparation, participant support and fieldwork execution
  • Study supervised by a team specialized in sensory research
