Challenge

A company in the healthcare sector needed to deepen its understanding of the perspective of urological oncologists involved in treating patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC).

The challenge was reaching professionals with relevant clinical experience and active involvement in treating these patients. To ensure the quality of the perspectives collected, every specialist had to have at least three years of professional experience and to have treated more than 15 NMIBC patients in the previous month.

The sample also covered different clinical approaches, including specialists experienced in radical cystectomy and in bladder preservation, bringing together perspectives from professionals working in different contexts of disease management.

Methodology applied

  • Recruitment of 8 urological oncologists in Brazil, all with at least 3 years of professional experience
  • Selection of specialists who had treated more than 15 patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer in the previous month
  • Inclusion of professionals experienced in both radical cystectomy and bladder preservation strategies
  • Online in-depth interviews (IDIs) lasting 45 to 60 minutes
  • Interviews conducted via Zoom or Teams, with professionals familiar with the platforms
  • Use of a recruitment screener and a structured interview guide
  • Project management, recruitment, moderation, translation of materials and incentives
  • Delivery of the automatic transcripts generated by Zoom, as requested by the client
